Last summer, SummerGate Winery was awarded the 2020 Summerland Chamber Environment and Sustainability Excellence Award for our commitment to sustainability!
We have always grown organic grapes and we have officially taken the next step to make organic wine. We are proud to announce we have achieved organic certification for our wine-making processes too! You will notice we now proudly display the words "Organic Wine" and the Canadian Organic logo on all SummerGate wines that meet the criteria.
SummerGate Wines have a new look! Representing vitality, loyalty, long life, and good fortune, we have adopted the sunflower as part of our "living logo." We invite you to see sunflowers featured on our property this summer. While we enjoyed our former labels and logo for more than a decade, we felt it was time to evolve and welcome something fresh and new. We hope you like it as much as we do!
In the vineyard, we are happy to welcome back Carson, who helped us plant our new vineyards in 2015. Carson will be our lead hand in the vineyard, starting with spring pruning, vine tying, mulching, mowing, and trellis wire work.
This May, we are excited to introduce something completely new: our 2018 IceWine is finally here! Two years in the making, it's a blend of Riesling and Muscat Ottonel, and only 33 cases were made. Order this special wine while you can!
Marchant Concessions are returning to SummerGate Winery this season to offer our guests delicious poutine and burgers from The Fry Guys! Their food was a great addition to our refreshing wines in our outdoor seating and picnic areas last year; we look forward to hosting them again on weekends this season!
We have expanded our patio and picnic areas, and will be open for the season on May 7, 2021. Enjoy wine tastings on the patio, and wine and food in our picnic area. We encourage you to make a reservation for wine tastings and The Fry Guys on our reservation page.
